Unboxing: The Nocturnal Reader’s Box [Feb 2018]

One of my most favorite subscription boxes has finally arrived this month, the Nocturnal Reader’s Box. A box full of horror and thrilling books, bookish goodies, artwork, and more. Literally every month they somehow manage to outdo themselves. So now, let me present to you, the February 2018 Nocturnal Reader’s Box!

I love that they now often include wearables and usables (is that what a glass could be called?). They work with independent artists and vendors to create custom themed items each month, and this month was extra special because they managed to include an Officially Licensed t-shirt design from The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson.
What is always included? At least 2 books, a bookmark, an 8×10 art print, and an enamel pin. I was never really into pins until I started getting their boxes, now I’m obsessed!
Though not their first bandana, they included one from Stephen Graham Jones’ Mongrels. The artwork is considered one of the most terrifying scenes from Nick Cutter’s The Deep.

One of the books is a new release, S: Es by Koji Suzuki (the book with the intestines on it!) and is the latest in the Ring saga, that being said, you do not need to have read any previous Ring books before reading this. Which is great… because I haven’t read them yet either.

The second book is Cast a Cold Eye by Alan Ryan and is an Irish ghost story with a ritualistic background. That sounds like my kind of bedtime read…

The pin this month was created by Jeff at Exhumed Visions who has done previous work for The Nocturnal Reader’s Box. His work is great and unique. The pin is the WWI solder in his most terrifying form in Summer of Night.

Finally, this amazing glass from Scott Smith’s The Ruins. I promise, the book is better than the movie. Go read it!

The teaser for March’s box explains that we should expect artwork from a world renowned/award winning artist, a living legend that will be doing some book signings, and an insane t-shirt design.

You can order a subscription or a one-time gift box HERE. Don’t forget to follow them and their awesome vendors on Instagram as well! Watch for occasional giveaways and sneak peaks.
